Meet Mayweather, Who Maintains An Undefeated Record In Boxing Since 1998
Floyd Mayweather emerges as the highest paid sportsman in the world of athletics. As a professional boxer, he is an American citizen with eleven world titles under his belt. He has won several awards for the sport of boxing during his career and been the brand-ambassador for several sports organizations.
He is also called the Money Man for his record with the highest earning among athletes. He had a turnover of $300 million in June, 2015. He was born into a family of professional boxers in February 1977. He took to professional boxing in 1996, and went on to win the first championship in 1998.
But before this, he was called 'Pretty Boy' because he had such a clear face. His father and his uncle, both professional boxers, had taught him quite a few tricks of the trade. His unique style of boxing landed him the national Golden Gloves over a couple of years including 1993 and 1994 and 1996. The Olympic games organised in Atlanta in 1996 saw a bronze medal in his kitty. Some amount of foul play was involved in this, ad the US team did protest against it, but without any positive results in their favour.
He took to boxing as a professional in October 1996 and won several awards. He got to the first world title in 1998. But the following years also saw him visiting the prison as an inmate on charges of violence and battery and domestic violence.
He gave the sports fraternity a big surprise when he announced his wish to retire from the world of professional boxing in 2007, but he still fights like a champion.
