Simona Halep’s Busy Year
Simona Halep is one of the pretty girls of tennis, but she is much more than just a pretty face in the crowd. She is ranked number 3 worldwide at the end of the 2014, and it’s the first time she’s got this far. And she’s only 23.
2014 has been an awesome year for her. One of the accomplishments is that she played in the French Open final, her first Grand Slam final, where she lost against Maria Sharapova – number 2 worldwide. She also reached the WTA Finals final where she lost against Serena Williams – number 1 worldwide.
That big of a year in tennis usually means that the next one will be a lot busier, mainly because you must have the same performance, at least, in order to keep your points. Also being in the top ten players worldwide means that WTA will set some other standards for her like playing in Grand Slam tournaments and a minimum number of other tournaments.
This is why Simona’s 2015 will be very crowded. In the first month she will be playing in 3 tournaments: Shenzen, Sydney and Australian Open. The Wimbledon is her big goal and Simona says she is very excited and is looking forward to it.
Another international open is the Bucharest Tournament in Romania which Simon might skip due to difficulties of adjustment from grass to clay. This is a bit disappointing for Simona as she’s Romanian and would love to play in her home country.
